A Gift of Beautification

A Gift of Beautification

A dedicated teacher and principal at several Oklahoma City elementary schools, Margaret Annis Boys was also passionate about the trees and flowers native to her home state of Oklahoma. She discussed with her trust officer the best way to utilize her estate to benefit those things she cared most about.

The trust officer Mike Early, who was also a good friend of Miss Boys, recommended she establish a trust at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation to be used for the beautification of public parks and medians in Oklahoma City. Upon her death in 1991, the $1.5 million Margaret Annis Boys Trust was bequeathed to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Since that time, the initial gift has increased to nearly $3 million in assets, has awarded $1.5 million in grants for beautification efforts and, best of all, the fund will continue to make grants forever, honoring Miss Boys' wishes.

With a bequest, you can designate a percentage, the residual or an entire estate to benefit an existing endowment or to create a new charitable fund. Please see our suggested language for a bequest or download our free Guide to Planning Your Will and Trust.

For more information on including a charitable bequest in your estate plans, please contact Joe Carter at 405/606-2914.
